The Clean Energy Outreach Fellows will support SJCE’s communications and outreach staff by supporting initiatives to educate the general public about SJCE’s program and sustainability opportunities, as well as assisting with the launch of SJCE in 2019. The Clean Energy Outreach Fellows will learn about SJCE’s customer programs and benefits by working with staff, but will also work independently and with other staff on their focus area. They will be assigned to work with a manager based on their focus area. This is an opportunity to gain experience and understanding of the renewable electricity utility industry, public (government) sector programs, environmental initiatives, and community outreach and engagement. Ideal candidates will be self-starters with an ability to work independently while meeting deadlines. Candidates should be comfortable working with diverse stakeholders and have a general understanding of renewable energy, climate change and sustainability. Fellows will be required to learn about SJCE and be able to communicate SJCE’s programs and sustainability opportunities when necessary. The fellowship positions will have no supervisory responsibilities.
The position will require public engagement and education, staffing community events, and facilitating new community enrollment. This position will have a focus area of social media and public engagement including monitoring and updating SJCE’s social media connections, creating content for SJCE’s blog and possibility eNewsletter as well as developing creative content for tabling events to engage audiences of different age ranges and interests. Will include work with Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.
