The City and County of San Francisco Department of the Environment (SF Environment) provides solutions that advance climate protection and enhance quality of life for all San Franciscans. SF Environment consists of several key program areas, including Climate Change, Green Building, Energy, Zero Waste, Toxics Reduction & Biodiversity, Environmental Justice, Clean Air Transportation, Urban Forestry and Public Outreach. SF Environment’s Construction and Demolition (C&D) Debris Recovery Program engages a variety of partners and stakeholders, other City departments, community-based organizations, members of the private sector and the general public to help green the built environment. This is primarily achieved by developing, implementing, and enforcing sustainable building materials management practices, and enhancing equitable access to services in San Francisco.

SF Environment is seeking a Climate Corps Fellow to assist with the following projects:
• Conduct research on local, regional, state and national policy as well as industry best practices
• Implementation of an electronic platform to facilitate the capture, review, and approval of C&D debris reduction and recovery plans
• Synthesize information gathered to support plan and policy recommendations
• Coordinate communications with stakeholders, including surveying debris transporters and processing facilities
• Development of citywide disaster debris management and recovery strategies
• Prepare written project materials

Desirable Qualifications:
• Enthusiasm for and education in sustainability, climate action and/or green building
• Demonstrated ability to self-start and initiate projects
• Responsible, motivated, and able to work independently and in a team
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel
• Experience researching and analyzing data
• Excellent writing, time management, and organizational skills

Proficiency with word processing, database management, Google and Microsoft products
