As a vital transit service interconnecting the Bay Area megaregion, the Capitol Corridor helps mitigate climate change by preventing the dangerous emissions that result from automobile travel. The fellow in this position is involved in projects that aim to increase ridership through branding the Capitol Corridor as a desirable alternative to the car.
Duties include daily creation and planning of social media content; fulfillment and advancement of strategic partnerships; customer service and administrative tasks; public, media, and interagency outreach; and, as of this year, a pilot college student loyalty program. The fellow will set up and run various campaigns and contests via the Capitol Corridor's social media channels; write and disseminate a monthly e-newsletter; copyedit and promote a monthly blog post that highlights events along the route; track analytics for the blog and newsletter; and represent the Capitol Corridor at community events— especially those with a sustainability and/or climate focus (e.g. Earth Day, Bike to Work Day, etc.).
This position provides ample opportunity to hone writing skills, be creative, and contribute to motivating the behavior changes that build climate resiliency.
